BUILD COMPASS AU

Build Compass AU Homeowner Kit Terms

Effective 13 October 2026

A$54.99 once. One home. Three calendar months of interactive access. Keep your downloaded records. No automatic renewal.

Seller: Fence & Deck Australia Pty Ltd trading as BUILD COMPASS AU, ABN 88 662 847 547 (we, us, our). Build Compass AU is the customer-facing brand. These terms concern the Homeowner Kit only, not building work or other training products.

1. Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under Australian Consumer Law. These rights apply despite any other clause and do not end merely because access expires or you download a file. They may include repair, replacement, cancellation, a refund or compensation, depending on the circumstances.

2. What you buy

The kit is A$54.99 total as a one-off purchase for one nominated home. It includes an interactive walkthrough, a printable checklist, an instruction guide and the ability to prepare a downloadable observation report. There is no subscription or automatic renewal.

Interactive access runs for three calendar months from successful payment, not from first use. Your account displays its expiry date. You can return to the same home record during this period for notes, responses, rechecks and updated reports. The purchase is not a multi-property or commercial inspection licence. Contact support to correct an address entered in error; an error does not automatically forfeit your purchase.

3. Permitted use

You receive a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the kit for that home. Do not transfer or sell account access, share sign-in codes, use it for other properties, resell the kit, publish its blank templates or present our materials as your own product. Do not bypass access controls or use the kit to provide a paid inspection service without a separate agreement.

You may print and keep the supplied documents for the home. You may share your completed report and relevant supporting material with household members, your builder, inspectors, advisers, insurers and relevant authorities, including for a complaint or legal proceeding. This permission continues for lawfully downloaded records after access expires. It does not permit resale or public distribution of the kit itself. Uses allowed by law remain permitted.

4. Purpose and limitations

The kit helps you organise visible observations and questions. We do not inspect your property through the kit. It is not a professional inspection, engineering or legal assessment, compliance certificate or determination of practical completion. It cannot establish that every defect has been found or that concealed work complies.

No issue noticed is your recorded observation, not certification. The kit refers to the NSW Guide to Standards and Tolerances 2017; its references are not an Australia-wide compliance assessment. Check applicability against your project's location, approved documents, contract and relevant requirements. Obtain appropriate professional advice for technical concerns and contractual decisions.

The kit does not send a report or contractual notice automatically, compel a builder to act or guarantee a dispute outcome. Review your report and arrange delivery yourself. These limits describe what the kit supplies; they do not remove our responsibility to supply it as represented or meet applicable consumer guarantees.

5. Safe use and accurate records

Use the kit only where you are authorised to attend. Observe accessible areas and operate ordinary fittings safely. Do not climb onto roofs, remove protective or electrical covers, enter unsafe areas or carry out invasive tests. Record what could not be checked and seek qualified assistance.

Take reasonable care with addresses, dates, descriptions and photos. Separate observations from assumptions and requested extras. Check generated documents before relying on or sending them. Do not fabricate records, impersonate others or upload unlawful material, malware or content you have no right to use.

6. Your account and information

Keep sign-in codes private and notify support if you suspect unauthorised access. A household member may help with the walkthrough, but do not distribute account credentials or grant unrelated people access.

You retain ownership of your original notes and photographs. You permit us and our service providers to process that content only as needed to deliver, secure and support the kit, respond to your requests and meet legal obligations. This permission is not a licence to use your photos or reports in advertising. Our Privacy & Collection Notice explains personal information handling and retention.

7. Saving, downloads and expiry

Online saving requires an internet connection. Follow the instructions, wait for save confirmation and keep current downloaded backups and original photographs. The kit does not promise offline autosave or automatic merging between devices. Keeping a backup is a precaution, not a waiver of rights if our service fails.

Download and open your final report, checklist and guide before expiry. Interactive access ends at the displayed time, but files already downloaded to your own storage do not expire. Do not treat the kit as permanent document storage. For 30 days after access ends, your saved inspection and photo copies remain available for read-only recovery. This does not extend editing access. After that period they are scheduled for permanent removal from the live service. Download and open your report and editable backup before expiry. The Privacy & Collection Notice explains limited legal holds and backup retention. Unused time does not extend the agreed access period unless required by law or expressly agreed.

8. Misuse and service changes

We may restrict access only where reasonably necessary to address a security threat, unlawful activity or material breach of these terms. The response must be proportionate. Where practicable, we will explain the issue and give a reasonable opportunity to correct it; urgent protection may require immediate action. We will review the restriction and restore access when its basis is resolved. No automatic forfeiture applies to a good-faith complaint or refund request.

We may maintain or improve the service without materially reducing the purchased features or access period. The terms accepted at purchase continue to govern that purchase. We will not retrospectively increase its price or impose materially adverse changes without agreement. If we cannot supply the agreed kit, applicable consumer remedies remain available.

9. Refunds and problems

Our Refund Policy applies, subject to clause 1. We do not offer voluntary change-of-mind refunds or refunds solely for unused access. This is not a blanket no-refund rule for a faulty or misdescribed kit. Contact info@buildcompass.com.au with purchase details and a description of the issue. Reasonable alternative proof of purchase is acceptable. Never send passwords, sign-in codes or full card details.

You may seek help from a consumer protection agency or use any available court or tribunal process. Contacting support does not waive those options. Australian law applies, including mandatory protections applicable where you live. These terms do not require disputes to be brought exclusively in another state.

Refund Policy

Seller: Fence & Deck Australia Pty Ltd trading as BUILD COMPASS AU, ABN 88 662 847 547.

We do not offer refunds for change of mind, including simply not using the kit or leaving access time unused.

This does not affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law, including remedies when the kit is faulty, not as described or otherwise fails a consumer guarantee. Downloading files, using the kit or access expiring does not remove those rights.

For assistance or a refund request, email info@buildcompass.com.au with proof of purchase and a brief description of the issue. We may request reasonable information to assess it and will provide any remedy required by law.
